Doppelganger

“The Doppelganger is a mythical creature rumored to have the ability to take the shape of it’s enemy or victim.”

The Doppelganger series is a detective stories that tell the lives of Armand Cortez and Daniel Del Prado, two Secret Agents from the NBI who find themselves deeply involved in a government conspiracy. Throughout the course of the story their paths cross with other character involved in the plot including Agusto Justiniani, a shady politician who claims to know the truth behind secrets; and Michael Gil, an ex-convict turned vigilante who struggles to redeem himself. All these characters find their paths intertwined with each other in a grand scale plot.

When we first came up with concept, it was for a project for one of my video classes two years ago. Since then the storyline has expanded and the plot has thickened far more than we ever thought it would go. The theme of the film is deeply rooted from my movie influences such as Swordfish, Face Off, The Departed and the storyline of Metal Gear saga. The main plot was based on the premise of “What if the Philippine government has been secretly manipulated by unseen hands behind the eyes of the public? What if the institutions that rely on to protect our society are in fact the forces that seek to bring us down? What if the powers that be in our country are merely pawns unknowingly being played in a larger game in which the consequences are much greater than we’ve ever imagined?”

Under these questions, we built the framework of our own conspiracy theory. Though this fiction may be a radical far shot from the reality, I still believe it is integral for every citizen to consider the possibility of these circumstances. We can never truly know what the inner workings of system and perhaps and drastic political upheaval could just be the answer to our motherland’s plea.
