From the Ashes

My beloved Neverwriters, it has been too long since we last convened to indulge ourselves in the in the penchant of our imaginations. Much time has passed, many emotions have transpired and countless stories have been left unborn. In the words of a revered writer and philosopher, “Hearts and thoughts, they fade.” so will our unfinished tales slowly sunder and lose urgency as time passes, until one day they will merely be fragments of puzzle we ourselves cannot solve. I don’t think good old Eddie would be very happy about that.

So let this be a calling to all of you who rage against the dying of the light. Let us not allow ourselves succumb to the seductions of procrastination. Let us stand up and declare war against the demons of mediocrity. Let us come together and light the fire of a blazing torch that was once known as Neverwritten, Online Storytellers Circle!

Nine months! Can you believe it? It’s been nine freaking months since our guild has been active. It’s pretty shameful if you ask me. But I wouldn’t consider those months a total loss. Though our pens may have taken a rest, our minds have traversed immutable distances. The ‘Order’ may have been in shambles but the Force is still strong amongst our Neverwriters. I have sensed the rise of many stories in the making within this idle period just waiting to take flight.

Many more tales are just waiting to be told and its up to us to make that happen. Amidst our prolonged hiatus, I can feel the overcast of a storm…an electric surge of ideas dying to be brought to life. Neverwritten is ready to rise again.

Seasons greetings, noble Brothers of the Pen!

I greet you all with glee in the coming of the holiday season! I’m sure you can all feel the Christmas spirit trickling through the doorstep. And along with the yuletide cheer comes the magical Neverwritten air that spurs the heart and incites the hand to inscribe reverie to paper from pen! There are a lot of things in store my friends, and I’m looking forward to seeing the fruition of the efforts our little ragtag writers group. So let’s get things started fellas!

  • Workshop Flourishes! – it seems that we’ve finally got ourselves into a healthy weekly writing habit. The Workshop is proving to be very fruitful and I’m glad were all cooperating to make it work. Its sets an impressive level of discipline in us in that we are compelled to hone our writing consistently. And for some at least it gives a reason to visit the site at least once a week! But I hope we don’t settle for just that. I still expect to see some posts of random short stories, poetry and progress with our main storylines as we go along. Of course we can’t pressure creativity but that’s the very reason were working on our writing in the first place right? So lets pick up the pace guys!
  • Neverwriter Avatars – for those of you who haven’t noticed some guild members already have an avatar picture appearing on every comment posted. If you would like to have an avatar just log-in to your respective account and go to ‘my dashboard’. Under ‘Users’ tabs go to ‘Your Profile’ and you will see something like this.avatarsampler.jpg
Simply click on the browse button and point the target to the image you want to use as an avatar. The current trend is using our guild portraits as avatars but if you want to use another pic you may do so. You may download the guild portraits from the Guild page. Please just put a picture on it so we wont think your face is a big question mark!
  • Regarding Pen Names – I just recently discovered that you can replace the displayed authors name on every post. By default the site puts our Username as the author but for those of who would rather use another name or perhaps even our guild pen names instead just go the Dashboard – User – Your Profile and input your desired name under the Nickname tag. Once you save it the new name will appear in the “Display name publicly as” drop down menu. Highlight it, save and your good to go!

Hail, Children of Never.

I greet you after such a long period of silence. Many things have happened but few have been written. I trust this lengthy hiatus brings forth a tumultuous discharge creative juices before long. However we’ve been more than just idle these past few weeks. I’ve spoken to most of our core members and we have come to a number of conclusions on how to improve the effectively our guild. So let’s get down to business. Here’s what’s been happening behind your back…

Writing Workshops – after a steamy one night stand with Peter Alistair and Mayari, we gave birth to what I would like to call Neverwritten’s Writing Workshop. We saw that there is need of urgency and constant practice when it comes to writing among our members. We decided that the Neverwriters need a weekly routine to hone our inherent writing skills and learn techniques from our fellow writers as well. So from now on, there will be a new discussion topic “Workshop” posting a weekly exercise about different writing skill, which we neverwriters will be highly encouraged to undertake. These exercises will be handled by the one and only Chololo himself, Peter Alistair. I have high hopes that the Workshop will be able to further enhance our writing skills for best. For more questions, ask Chololo.

Creative Writing Sessions – It’s been a while since the last time we shared our sleepless overnight Strong Guy-coffee-flavored conversations in Bulacan, eh. Ahh…I have many fond memories of those good ol’ “helicopter” filled evenings. *sigh* I must admit it has been harder for us to get together and set aside a weekend for our Neverwritten nights lately due to our hectic schedules. But alas, there is yet hope for us penniless writers! Apparently there are special Creative Writing sessions held every Thursday at the Mag:Net café in Katipunan handled by prominent fiction writer Krip Yuson. Not only will we be able to come together and discuss our stories amongst ourselves, but we will also be in the presence of a veteran writer… So bring your friends, buy a beer. And let’s have a great time!

**All neverwriters are invited and expected to come!

Auburn Eyes – Finally, a fiction that doesn’t involve rocket launchers, five-headed dragons and the salvation of the human race! “Auburn Eyes” is a quaint story of a boy and a girl who fell in love and a promise that was kept all along. Listen to Mayari’s heart-warming tale about friendship, misery and a love that surpassed even its own end.

Vampire the Masquerade – If you thought we neverwriters are a bunch of wusses, you’re wrong. We’re worse! Behind our cool and suave fronts were actually really just a bunch of snotty RpG geeks who get titillated by thought with a “critical hit”! Yes, sad but true. But I must admit that RpGs did become a big influence to our writing as well. Especially to the ones that do involve rocket launchers and saving the world! Futhermore, our roleplaying game isn’t just about any normal dungeon hopping group of hobbits. Ours is a dark chronicle about the mysterious eternal forces that govern the night in the award-winning RpG setting World of Darkness. Being the current Gamemaster of our campaign I have been given the privelege and burden of writting our gripping tale. It begins 1902, in the dreary streets of Amsterdam, my chronicle tells the story of three vampires as they are caught into a winding plot that leads them to a conspiracy of epic proportions. Each weekend we get together and write the next chapter as we play it. Despite what you might think, it’s a heck load of fun! We even made a number of mini-games to simulate hunting victims and combat in a dynamic and exciting pace. We’ll keep you posted on the progress.
